The tablets in this range combine a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), such as aceclofenac or diclofenac, with paracetamol. Some add a third ingredient: a muscle relaxant for painful spasm, or an enzyme used with anti-inflammatories to bring down swelling.

Doctors prescribe them for back and joint pain, sprains, dental pain and pain after an injury or a procedure. NSAIDs can upset the stomach, so they are usually taken after food. They are not suitable for everyone, especially people with stomach ulcers, kidney problems or heart disease.

For pain in one place, the gel puts an anti-inflammatory on the skin over the sore area, with menthol and methyl salicylate for a cooling feel.
