How these medicines work

Cold and allergy

In this range

For use under medical advice.

A cold and an allergy can feel alike but have different causes, so the medicines here work in different ways. Cold tablets combine paracetamol for fever and aches with a decongestant for a blocked nose and an antihistamine for sneezing and a runny nose.

For allergic rhinitis, montelukast blocks the action of leukotrienes, chemicals that inflame the airways, while levocetirizine blocks histamine. The cough syrup pairs a cough suppressant with a decongestant and an antihistamine, for a dry cough that comes with a blocked or runny nose.

Several of these medicines contain an antihistamine that can make you drowsy. Each product page says whether it is safe to drive.

Every medicine here is for use under medical advice. Each product page has its full composition, uses, side effects and safety advice.
